Founded in 2004 by Audrey, a Japanese-language interpreter and fashion consultant, MUUÑ was born from a journey to West Africa in search of traditional craftsmanship. In the village of Nyariga, in northern Ghana, Audrey met Tahiru, a skilled artisan whose mastery of straw weaving inspired the brand’s first collection of baskets. Together, they established a women’s cooperative to support local artisans and create a lasting partnership with the community. Drawing from Scandinavian design, Japanese minimalism, and global influences, MUUÑ reimagines the traditional straw bag as a timeless and refined object of modern craftsmanship.
