Junya Watanabe, Japanese designer, launched his namesake brand in 1992. His feminine yet distinctly modern-edge style is expressed through the unconventional use of structures, textures, and prints. Having had worked as a pattern maker for Comme des Garçon under Rei Kawakubo before launching his own brand, helped him develop avant-garde styles and techniques he still uses today. Conceptual designs, pattern manipulation, and innovative application of synthetic and traditional materials are highlights of Watanabe’s work.
