In Sardinia, the host for the Island X-prix, Extreme E partnered with the non-profit MEDSEA Foundation on a Posidonia restoration project which involves identifying, analyzing and replanting seagrass in a degraded area of Sardinian coastline.
Known as the ‘Rainforest of the Ocean’, the Posidonia Oceanica are rapidly declining ecosystems that support life in and out of the ocean. Despite only occupying 0.2% of the ocean floor, seagrass stores 10% of the oceans carbon and it has the capacity to capture 30% more from the atmosphere than tropical rainforests.

SEASE was born to foster awareness in the fashion community of the climate crisis. It reduces its environmental impact by working with partners that hold the same values towards the environment, use natural fibres, recycled materials, local production, and innovative techniques such as 3D design technology that enables more efficient use of resources during the product development phase.

Recently, SEASE has collaborated with Sea Shepherd, designing their Mediterranean fleet uniform and developing a conscious fashion project to allow inspired people to directly support Sea Shepherd’s cause and promote awareness of ocean conservation . A union made even more fitting as the collection is produced from recycled plastic waste recovered from the sea. The capsule collection of high-performance garments is also manufactured in Italy , lowering the carbon footprint of distribution.
