Founded in 1896 by Tony Anzalone, an Italian immigrant and former U.S. Navy sailor known as Seagoing Tony, Seafarer began as a tailor shop near the Brooklyn Navy Yard. His collaboration with the Navy led to the creation of the iconic bell-bottom pants—originally designed for service, but later embraced as a symbol of peace and then as a fashion statement by icons such as Jane Birkin, Brigitte Bardot, and Farrah Fawcett. Today, under the creative direction of Manuela Mariotti, Seafarer reinterprets its storied heritage into a modern ready-to-wear collection. Balancing innovation with timeless design, the brand channels a bold seventies spirit while remaining true to its signature palette and craftsmanship. Its pieces are celebrated by style luminaries including Heidi Klum, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Jessica Alba, January Jones, and Olga Kurylenko. The Seafarer woman is independent, sophisticated, and effortlessly feminine, with a rebellious, adventurous edge. She travels, explores, and embodies a rock ‘n’ roll spirit seamlessly blended with romantic, French-inspired elegance—reflecting the enduring legacy and contemporary vision of Seafarer.
