Jean Patou, born in 1887, founded his first fashion house when he was only 23 years old. His namesake brand, created in 1914, revolutionized women’s fashion. Jean Patou designed simple and chic evening dresses, introduced casual and sportswear into the woman’s wardrobe, and was the first to mark his garments with an embroidered monogram of his initials. At the renowned couture house on Saint Florentin Street, Jean Patou received the heroines of his time: from Louise Brooks, Joséphine Baker and Mistinguett, to tennis player Suzanne Lenglen and music-hall stars, the Dolly Sisters. In 2018, the Jean Patou house was reborn with a new name, Patou, and a new artistic director, Guillaume Henry.
