In 1953 Juan, José and Vicente Lladró made their first creation, inspired by an experimental vocation in a Moorish furnace built in their own home in Almàssera (Valencia). Lladró creations begin with an artistic inspiration, with the sculptor making the first ‘sketch’ in clay. This ‘sketch’ is then examined and approved by the Creativity Committee, a group of numerous members including a representative from the Lladró family. Once approved, the object is reproduced in plaster to provide the first mold, which is then used to create the definitive porcelain figurine. Today, every Lladró piece is the result of a laborious artistic process. The sculptors follow their own inspiration but also follow the leadership of the brand and if the work requires it, a meticulous process of research and documentation.
