Fresh off her triumphant win of the 2016 British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund prize, footwear designer Sophia Webster shares her insights into success, inspiration and style with LUISAVIAROMA.COM.
Describe your feelings after winning the 2016 British Fashion Council/Vogue Designer Fashion Fund prize.
I was so happy and honored to have won the Vogue Fashion Fund award. I felt very humbled and appreciative to Vogue, the BFC and the esteemed judging panel. It comes at such a good time for my business and this will really help us achieve our plans for the future. It is so valuable for my brand to receive this recognition along with the creative and commercial mentorship.
What is your mantra for success?
Hard work. It’s taken a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get to where we are now.
I like to have fun with fashion and not take it too seriously.
Where do you look for style inspiration?
I can be quite tom-boyish or really girly, either way I love mixing bold prints and vibrant colors. My style icon would have to be Gwen Stefani. I love her unique and consistent style.
How does your footwear make women feel?
I like to think my shoes make women feel confident, sassy and fearless. My designs appeal to a range of women, and I love that.
