Bibi van der velden has a uniquely personal approach to jewellery. Curious by nature, her art is inspired by the materials she discovers along her, any travels. This can vary from a peacock feather picked off a lawn in India to a marble rock scooped out a riverbed in Italy or a pink seashell washed up on a forgotten shore. The creative journey can also start with an antique pocket watch or a family heirloom. Bibi gives these found objects new value by integrating them into one-of-a-kind designs using semi-precious stones, pearls and mother of pearl. Bibi uses her knowledge as a sculptor to mould her jewellery into "wearable works of art".
